The consequences for adult education are to generate more exact and up-to-date knowledge about the achievements of the subjects, in which they transform the social requirements into their own learning projects.
While belief research has become an integral part of the educational research agenda, it has been uneven. One neglected area is the beliefs of adult education teachers. Focusing on five such teachers working in adult basic education and teaching numeracy in Switzerland, this exploratory study uses different data to describe their beliefs about numeracy and its teaching. Continuing digitalisation is a macrosocial phenomenon – dealing with it is a macrosocial task. For the educational field, it does not only concern a change of teaching-learning situations due to digital media but also the issue of contributing to the changing situation - without excluding certain groups. According to the author, the issue of digitalisation does not allow federal disputes and segment-specific separation of educational areas.
The author outlines the »educational efforts« of right wing movements and organisations and presents institutions, means and contents. He pleads for an explicit confrontation with right wing institutions and contents and calls for the educational task of expressing the guiding principle, interdependencies and benefits of a pluralistic democracy.
